How do I get an ECAD exported .IDF file to reference my 3D STEP database when importing to Creo?

Hi,

 

I am trying to pass an ECAD .IDF file from Mentor Graphics Expedition into CREO Direct Modeling 18.1 (with PCB licence). So far all of the components import with component outlines and height properties but have no details associated with them. (part pins, bga balls etc.) Only square blocks appear.

 

I have a database of 3D STEP models in a separate directory and i would like the .IDF file to reference this folder and use the detailed STEP models as parts for the imported PCB.

 

From what ive read the 3D models need to be in .prt or .asm format to reference them properly. I have not found a thread that explains this process.

 

 

 

Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Dear Friends,

 

I am currently working in Creo Elements WF 5.0. I am facing an issue in detailing procedure, especially drafting. While creating Balloon notes, I am able to define the balloon radius globally by altering the "min_balloon_radius" and "max_balloon_radius". But I need to change the balloon radius individually. Kindly guide me on how to change the balloon radius individually.

 

Please note : This is not a BOM balloon.

Hallo zusammen,

 

wo finde ich in PTC Creo die Einstellung zur Fang- bzw. Schrittweite in der Annotation?

Im Moment springt mir der Cursor in etwa 1mm Schritten. Wäre gut, wenn ich den Fang

ganz ausschalten könnte, damit sich der Cursor stufenlos verschieben ließe.

Currently the built in Help feature for the sheetmetal module point to CoCreate internal help information only.

Is there a possibility to point the help to a different source?

Does someone know how to inquire the :base_face, :flat_origin and :flat_direction of a flat view in annotation. I tried to do it with (sd-am-inq-view), but I can't find these things. We already create one flat view, but we want to have a sheet with a second flat that is completely the same like the first flat. So it would be handy to get these attributes out of the first one.

 

Does somebody know how to inquire this?

Hi Folks,

I am using PTC Creo Elements / Direct Modeling Express.

 

I think this is a simple question which someone will probably know right away.  But I can't figure out the answer.  I want to move several item all together.  One group of items is an assembly which contains other assemblies of structures.  I also want to move - in the same direction and for the same distance - another structure (which is not in any of those assemblies).  I could just select all the items in the viewport while holding down the shift key.  That works.  But there are quite a few items to select and I would like to know how to do this more efficiently.  I would think I should be able to select the items in the structure browser.  But what I find is that if I hold down the shift key while selecting items in the structure browser the system won't let me select anything at all.  If I don't hold down the shift key it will let me select ONE item (or one assembly) but not the other structure (or assembly).  I was able to move all the items into a new assembly and then just select the new assembly in the structure browser but I don't think I should have to do that.  I would guess there is probably some easy trick that I don't know about.  Does anyone know how to do this, to select several objects in the structure browser so that they can all be moved together?

Hallo zusammen,

 

in den mitgelieferten Zeichnungsvorlagen sind Platzhalter enthalten,

die den Eigentümer der Zeichnung und den Maßstab automatisch

auflisten.

 

Wie aber definiert man einen solchen Platzhalter, damit er Werte

z.B. aus dem Strukturbaum automatisch übernimmt?

Hello!

 

I am having trouble getting the software properly downloaded and running. The first time I downloaded it, it said that it was complete but the would not run (could not locate the .exe. file). So I uninstalled it and tried it again. This time the installer is stuck at 2%, where its been for hours.  I have NO idea what to do.

Can we get an expanded threading feature for tapered threads? A lot of our pipe threadings are tapered and not straight, and we have no means to create this.

 

On a side note, a complete list of Thread types (:unc,:unf,,etc) would be nice as well so we don't have to fudge the thread data.

Does somebody know if it is possible to print on a roll with a plotter? I want to be able to print a complete wire harness with a scale of 1:1. Therefor I want to print this on a roll paper like a banner. For instance the size can be something like 3000x841mm. Is somebody been able to do such thing?

Hallo,

beim Creo, wenn ein Element kaputt ist, dann werden die abhänigen KE´s rot hervorgehoben. Ich möchte die Farbe von fehlgeschlagenenen Elementen von rot auf die andere Farbe ändern. Auf dem Bild sieht man, was ich meine.

 

 

Unter Option>Systemfarben habe ich keine passende Einstellung gefunden. Im config.pro gibt es eine Einstellung: model_free_font. Doch ob die Einstellung helfen soll und was ich da genau schreiben soll, weiß ich nicht.

 

Der Wunsch ist keine Geschmackssache. Ein Kollege von mir erkennt die rote Farbe nicht.

I currently have Creo 2.0 installed on my PC and I have just got Creo 3.0 ready to be installed... My question is can I have Creo 2.0 AND Creo 3.0 installed on the same PC?

How can the balloon be sized. We use text balloon to identify item numbers from an external BOM. When using more than one digit number the balloon stretches making it oblong rather than a full circle. How can the balloon be sized to be circular or can be sized to be a larger size that would fit the longest number Creo elements/direct 18.1 annotation

Good Morning Users,

 

Within windchill and creo elements , how does one obtain access to pervious iterations of a part model within your workspace.

Ie, the model been saved 5 times, but reached a dead end. Wish to return to the third saved model. Still possible?

 

With wildfire3 had access to xxx.prt.6

Could select xxx.prt.4

Helpful colleague,

There is no license available for the application."

 

I've license request failed for Creo Elements/Direct 18.0 on

WIndows7 (32bit) as above.

 

I was wondering if you could give me a few tips.

Can I ask your advice on something?

Hallo zusammen,

 

ich versuche vergebens eine Stückliste mit Positionszeiger in meiner

Zeichnung einzubauen.

Da ich die Express-Version benutze habe ich den Verdacht, dass dies

hier nicht vorgesehen ist.

 

Wenn doch, dann habe ich die Vorgehensweise absolut nicht verstanden.

 

Kann mir irgendwer eine kurze Rückmeldung geben?

Hallo zusammen! 3 posts früher wurde die Erstellung von Gewinden mit der Helix-Methode beschrieben. Funktioniert, aber doch recht zeitaufwendig Gibt es keine andrer Variante? Es kann doch nicht sein, dass in einem CAD Programm die Erstellung von Gewinden nur über Zusatzmodule ermöglicht wird!!! Weis jemand noch eine Lösung? Besten Dank und Grüße! Daniel

Is there a method in Creo Direct Modeling V19 to have 1 base model (i.e. bare machined casting) linked somehow to painted models (yellow, blue, green castings)?  We currently have an individual model for each (bare, yellow, blue, green).  For instance, steel machined casting, Model A, is used in final products Model 1 (yellow), Model 2 (blue) and Model 3, (green). This gets maintenance intensive because 1 single change will need completed on 4 models. I hope my question is clear.
